86 new FTTP exchanges announced by Openreach

Openreach has announced plans for the exchanges (listed below) to enter a stop-sell on the 2^nd August 2022 as part of FTTP (Fibre To The Premises) rollout.

What is a stop-sell and how will it affect my business?

Stop-sell notices are issued by Openreach when an exchange has over 75% of customers have ultrafast broadband enabled or when there is a high guarantee that it will reach it within the next 12 months.

After the stop-sell, customers will no longer be able to purchase copper products such as a phone lines or some broadband products that come with a phone line such as FTTC or ADSL broadband. Customers will also need to purchase products such as alarms that work over the internet as apposed to over a phone line.

What products will be available after the stop-sell?

For broadband, after the stop-sell customers may be able to get FTTP broadband which offers speeds of up to 1Gbps. If this isn’t available, customers will be able to purchase broadband only products which offers speeds of up to 330Mbps called SoGFAST or SOGEA.
